What is a Herdshare anyway?
A herdshare is where you “buy in” to a herd, much like buying stocks in a company. Herdshare members then pay a boarding fee every month that covers their portion of feed and maintenance. In return, members receive their portion of milk, which is one gallon of milk per week.
Isn't it easier to just sell the milk?
The short answer is, yes. But it’s illegal.
How much does it cost?
The boarding fee is $50, that works out to $11.54 per gallon of milk. That’s less than a large coffee and scone at our local coffee shop.

On to the breakdown of the total upfront cost:
The buy in fee is $60 plus the first month boarding fee of $50. Then add on the 2 jars, for weekly pick up, for $20. And the total upfront cost comes to $130.
How much milk do you get?
Why do you have special jars?
The jars we use fit our system, make things run more efficiently and keeping labor costs low. Also, having uniform jars allows for more efficient storage, when coupled with personalization, makes pick up is a breeze.
What are the cows fed?
Our cows graze on pastures run on permaculture principles (as close to nature as possible, no chemicals). In addition to grazing, we have gone to great lengths to source hay that has never been sprayed with herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers. This is what makes up the bulk of their diet.
At milking, our cows receive a portion of organic grain. We custom mix it with things like oregano, garlic, Apple Cider Vinegar, Mollasses, etc, depenidng on the time of year and needs of the cow.
How do I cancel?
Cancelling is easy. If you decide to leave the herdshare, sign in to your account on the website. There you’ll find a option to cancel your subscription.
The cancellation has to be made by 10pm on the last night of the month to avoid then next months fee.
Please send a text when you do, and I will check the system to make sure your cancellation went through properly.
